About This Service

A Bar Built Like Furniture

A wood home bar should feel as solid as it looks. We cut the bar top from a single run of hardwood, join the face frame with mortise-and-tenon joinery, and hand-fit every panel before finish ever touches the wood. That's wood bar carpentry done the old way, not a flat-pack kit shipped in a box.

Whether you want a basement bar with a brass foot rail or a quiet wet bar tucked into a butler's pantry, our shop builds each piece around your space and the way you actually host. Every solid wood entertaining bar leaves our Indianapolis workshop as one finished piece, not a stock cabinet with a countertop bolted on. If you're weighing wood species for your own project, the Hardwood Manufacturers Association has good background on how different hardwoods age and wear.

Craftsmanship in Detail

Joinery You Can Feel.

Run your hand along the edge of a Rines Design bar and you'll feel the difference — tight dovetail joints, scribed-in fillers and a hand-rubbed finish with no plastic edge banding anywhere. We build our bar tops from solid stock, not veneered particleboard, so the top can be sanded and refinished for decades instead of replaced.

Our Process

From Rough Lumber to Install Day.

01
Free In-Home Measure

We walk your basement or bar nook, check sightlines, and talk through how you host. No cost, no pressure.

02
Design & Wood Selection

Pick your species — white oak, walnut, cherry or maple — and see a 3D render before we cut a single board.

03
Milling the Lumber

Boards are rough-cut, planed and jointed in our shop to match grain and color across the whole bar.

04
Joinery & Assembly

Face frames and drawer boxes go together with mortise-and-tenon and dovetail joints, not staples and glue alone.

05
Hand-Finishing

Stain and topcoat are hand-sprayed in a dust-free booth, then cured and inspected.

06
Delivery & Install

Our crew levels, sets and seals the bar top on-site, then walks you through the finished piece.

Frequently Asked

Questions, Answered.

Don't see your question? We'd love to talk it through over a free in-home consultation.

Ask About Your Wood Bar
Do you build the bar top from solid wood?

Yes. White oak, walnut and cherry are our most requested bar tops. We edge-join boards by hand so the grain runs continuously across the top instead of showing seams.

Can you build a wood bar into an unfinished basement?

Basement bars are one of our most common builds. We plan for moisture, run plumbing roughs ahead of time, and use basement-rated finishes on the wood.

How long does a custom wood home bar take to build?

Most wood home bars take 5 to 8 weeks from design approval to install, depending on species and finish schedule.

Will the wood match my kitchen cabinets upstairs?

We can match species, stain and door style to your kitchen or kitchen island so the bar reads as part of the house.
